On April 12th, GAC TECH DAY 2024 with the theme of "Science and Technology Vision" was held in Guangzhou Automobile Research Institute. This Science and Technology Day focuses on the cutting-edge technology of smart electricity, and introduces the domestic leading unmanned pure vision intelligent driving system and the high-safety and large-capacity all-solid-state power battery that achieves key technological breakthroughs. Both technologies are planned to be loaded in 2026. At the event site, a number of Guangzhou Automobile technologies such as electromagnetic suspension, MLounge first class, MBoard2.0 core intelligent chassis, and flying cars were also displayed.

All-solid-state power batteries have made important breakthroughs and will be loaded in 2026.

As the core component of new energy vehicles, power batteries are directly related to key indicators such as cruising range and safety, and the development of power battery technology is also the technological highland for the electrification transformation of the global automobile industry. At present, Guangzhou Automobile Group has initially opened up the whole-process manufacturing process of all-solid-state batteries, and has achieved key technological breakthroughs in mass production of all-solid-state power batteries with high safety and large capacity. It has three core advantages of high energy density, high safety and large-capacity all-solid-state batteries, and is expected to be loaded on Haobo models in 2026.

Li Jin, head of the research and development department of Guangzhou Automobile Ai ‘an Battery, explained the technology of Guangzhou Automobile all-solid-state power battery.

Guangzhou automobile all-solid-state power battery adopts high surface capacity solid-state anode technology and the third generation sponge silicon anode technology (new nano-silicon composite anode), and the all-solid-state anode can reach 5mAh/cm.2Above the high surface capacity, and then realize the energy density of more than 400Wh/kg. Compared with the most advanced liquid lithium-ion battery at present, its volume energy density and mass energy density are increased by more than 50%, and the cruising range of the whole vehicle can exceed 1000km.

In terms of safety, GAC all-solid-state power battery adopts high-strength and compact composite electrolyte membrane, which makes the battery not explode in the hot box test at 200°C, and refreshes the new safety height of high specific energy battery. In addition, the battery keeps stable performance under extreme conditions such as needling, cutting, dry ice environment at minus 78°C, high temperature hot water immersion at 90°C, and thermal runaway does not occur under mechanical abuse conditions such as nailing and cutting, which significantly improves the safety of automobiles.

In terms of battery capacity, Guangzhou Automobile All-solid-state Power Battery has successfully established the whole process manufacturing process of all-solid-state power battery by trying more than 100 kinds of material schemes and process schemes, and realized the manufacturing of large-size multi-layer stacked all-solid-state batteries, with a capacity as high as 30Ah, which laid the foundation for the application of all-solid-state power batteries of vehicle specifications.

The research and development and application of all-solid-state power battery technology will greatly enhance the performance and market competitiveness of Guangzhou Automobile Group’s products, help promote Guangzhou Automobile Group’s scientific and technological innovation and high-quality and sustainable development, and will also have a positive impact on the development of the whole new energy automobile industry.

Domestic leading, all-scene, no-map pure visual intelligent driving system

There are many intelligent driving technologies in the field of intelligent driving, including super parking that can complete parking in extreme space, one-button calling and driving, and cross-floor driving with large curvature slope, as well as high-speed NDA, urban NDA, traffic jam pilot TJP, etc. In the field of driverless driving, the demonstration operation of Robotaxi has been realized.

The Guangzhou Automobile Map-free Pure Visual Intelligent Driving System launched on this Science and Technology Day can be applied to complex and changeable full scenes. By combining visual sensors and AI algorithms, people can perceive the world like people, and a more concise hardware system can achieve a wider coverage of intelligent driving.

On the visual recognition of Guangzhou Automobile’s map-free pure visual intelligent driving systemWith three leading abilities, it has obvious advantages in the field of autonomous driving. First of all,Ability to understand complex traffic roads. Whether it is ramp, tunnel, bend or intersection, fork road and other complex scenes, this system can accurately identify and understand the road structure.Secondly, the recognition ability of traffic lights. Through the deep neural network, this system realizes the accurate identification of various signal lamp elements, including signal lamp types, various symbols and colors, countdown and flashing state.Thirdly, the ability to deal with changeable scenes.The sensing range of this system reaches 150+ meters in front of the car, 100 meters behind the car and about 50 meters, which is 1.5 times of the industry level. The sensing categories include not only common traffic factors such as vehicles, pedestrians, riders and small animals, but also irregular obstacles such as carts and camp tents.

In terms of decision-making and action, GAC’s map-free pure visual intelligent driving system also performed well.Through the real-time tracking of dynamic traffic objects, intention identification and trajectory prediction, and the command brain driven by data and expert rules, this system can accurately predict the behavior of other traffic participants and make reasonable, safe and efficient driving decisions with the help of the fluid joint planning technology pioneered by GAC. In addition, in the parking scene, this system also shows excellent performance, and the minimum error can be controlled to 5cm, which can realize the most difficult three-dimensional parking space and narrow parking space in the industry.

Besides,Guangzhou Automobile No Map Pure Vision Intelligent Driving SystemMore capable of continuous learning and evolution. With the help of self-developed data closed-loop and simulation system, this system can iteratively optimize the algorithm in the simulation test and realize self-improvement and evolution.

It is worth noting that in the field of autonomous driving technology, GAC has simultaneously laid out two major technical routes: the mainstream "multi-sensor fusion technology" and the forward-looking "map-free pure vision technology", and both routes of GAC will get rid of the dependence on high-precision maps. At present, the coverage rate of high-precision maps only accounts for about 6% of the national highway mileage, which means that automatic driving based on high-precision maps can’t be used in about 94% of the national highway sections, while both technical routes of GAC can be "opened with navigation".

Guangzhou Automobile Group is actively building closed-loop data from multiple dimensions, and has invested in the construction of Guangzhou Automobile Cloud Data Center and the data platform of Guangzhou Automobile Intelligent Network General Assembly. At the same time, through Ruqi Travel, it has launched an autopilot data solution covering the data labeling platform ONTIME Data Encoder, the high-precision map tool chain ONTIME MapNet and the intelligent driving simulation platform ONTIME NexSim. With data as the core, it drives the closed-loop iteration of autopilot and helps Guangzhou Automobile to build an autopilot engine.
